	abstract = {In this paper we report about deployment of genetic algorithms in order to optimize tread profiles for tires that will produce an unobtrusive noise. Since the complexity of the problem grows exponentially (the search space is typically of the order of a 65-dimensional vector space), a complete search for the optimal tread profile is not possible even with today's computers. Thus heuristic optimization algorithms are an appropriate means to find (near) optimal tread profiles. We discuss approaches of speeding up the generation and analysis of tread profiles, and results using genetic algorithms.},
